The Jervis Bay Marine Park Alliance strongly objects to Development Application DA2026/2080

Proposed Development: 3 Moona Street, Huskisson
The Jervis Bay Marine Park Alliance(JBMPA) strongly objects to Development
Application DA2026/2080 at 3 Moona Street, Huskisson, on the grounds of:
• significant environmental,
• hydrological,
• geotechnical and
• planning concerns.
The application, as presented, does not adequately demonstrate that the proposed
development can proceed without unacceptable risks to:
• Moona Moona Creek,
• the adjoining coastal wetland ecosystem and
• the Jervis Bay Marine Park.
The development site is in close proximity to a highly sensitive aquatic environment, yet
the application contains inconsistencies in its assessment of the site’s location and
insufficient evidence that the proposal meets relevant:
• coastal,
• biodiversity and
• water-quality protection requirements.
Recommendation
• The JBMPA urges Shoalhaven City Council to refuse DA2026/2080 unless the applicant
can conclusively demonstrate that the development complies with
• all applicable planning and
• environmental requirements and
• that its impacts on Moona Moona Creek,
• surrounding wetlands,
• native vegetation and
• the Jervis Bay Marine Park
can be satisfactorily avoided or mitigated.
• Given the unresolved uncertainties concerning
• excavation,
• groundwater,
• acid sulfate soils,
• flooding,
• vegetation loss and
• stormwater pollution,
the submission maintains that the proposed development is unsuitable for this environmentally sensitive location.
