3 Moona St Development
Bringing the Gold Coast to the South Coast. 77 apartments across 2 multi storey blocks. 130 car spaces in an underground carpark on flood zoned land. Restaurant, Bar, Swimming Pool. Loss of the natural setting that most tourists come to Jervis Bay to enjoy. No justification to extend the tourist accommodation beyond the appropriately zoned area closer to the commercial sector of Huskisson.

Concerns from feedback from established local community groups:
-
Increased storm water runoff into a fragile aquatic environment and into the Jervis Bay Marine Park.
-
Seeking a variation to height limits will set precedent for neighbouring developments.
-
100m from Moona Moona Creek Reserve.
-
Increased traffic, loss of predestrian safety, car parking pressure - reports do not take into account the approved development but not yet built.
-
An adjacent and already approved zombie DA (4 Murdoch st.) for minimum 32 possibly 41 apartments. The cumulative impact not been taken into consideration in the necessary documents and reports.
-
Visual Impact report is questionable in terms of proportions of the buildings depicted. This we will examine more closely.
-
Landscape Plans lack consideration of the National Park the block borders with and the consequential danger of spreading non-natives seeds. This is also being examined in more closely.
-
Traffic reports appear to under-estimate increased volume- this is being examined more closely.
-
Aboriginal Cultural Heritage reports were not available initially but they are now on view and being examined closely, more on this next time. Wreck Bay villagers have made opposing submissions, they can be viewed on line and KJBU will engage with the Wreck Bay and Jerrinja Land Council.
We are soliciting independent reports on landscaping and environmental impact as well the building plans and the effect of this development on local residents. We will provide updates on the development here over the next two weeks. We hope they may be useful to you as you consider how you personally feel about the size and location of this development. So more to come
However...A final consideration for this update, is if approved, there will be 3 developments opposite Moona Moona Creek amounting to 130 apartments in total, the majority used for tourist accommodation, none have any allocation of parking for boats, jetskis, trailers. In town there are another 5 DA's for more tourist accommodation. Is it time to do a thorough audit, at what point does a tourist town reach its peak?
Submissions in by 24/10 DA2026/2080 if DA tracker submission portal is too hard to get into simply write or email: council@shoalhaven.gov.nsw.au Subject DA2026/2080
We are asking council for an extension to the submission date so the community has more time to respond, but there is no reason to wait, you don't have to do a long detailed submission, 2 or 3 lines stating whether you have concerns or oppose and why, is sufficient. It's the number of submissions from the community that count. Sending a short and succinct submission in today or anytime before 24th Oct every submission counts.
